Beginning around 2002, sertaneja enjoyed a surge in appeal that propelled numerous key figures within the genre from relative anonymity into the spotlight. This rural musical form, akin to country music from the United States, rapidly ascended to prominent positions on global music rankings and transformed unknown performers into household names. The trajectory of the well-known pair Cesar Menotti and Fabiano exemplifies this pattern perfectly. Following the typical sertaneja format of a male duo featuring a lead singer (Fabiano) supported by a guitarist (Menotti), they captured their initial album in 2004. Shortly thereafter, they secured a contract with Universal Music and issued their debut major-label effort the following year. The resulting album and DVD combination, Palavras de Amor ao Vivo, achieved enduring popularity among listeners in Brazil and remained on domestic rankings for more than two years post-release. Captured during a performance in Belo Horizonte, it yielded notable tracks including "Caso Marcado" and "Paixao Mineria," which resonated strongly with enthusiasts of the expanding sertaneja scene.
