Biography
South Korean vocalist, performer, and broadcast figure Cha Eun-woo first rose to fame as an original member of boy band Astro, where he helped drive the act’s achievements through the chart-dominant releases All Light in 2019, All Yours in 2021, and Drive to the Starry Road in 2022. After nearly a decade of recognized contributions across music and screen work, he stepped out as a solo artist in 2024 with the mini-album Entity.
Lee Dong-min, who spent his childhood in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province before relocating to Seoul for performing-arts training, made his screen bow in the 2014 film My Brilliant Life and initially appeared in commercials while modeling beauty products. Scouted through Fantagio’s iTeen Boys initiative in 2015, he was chosen as one of six trainees assembled into Astro, a group introduced via the web series To Be Continued and live stages. Their first mini-album, Spring Up, arrived in 2016 and reached number four on the Gaon Album Chart. Adopting the stage name Cha Eun-woo, the sextet issued three consecutive seasonal mini-albums—Summer Vibes, Autumn Story, and Winter Dream—within their debut year, steadily expanding their reach at home and abroad. Designated the group’s vocalist, visual, and public face, Eun-woo figured prominently on Astro’s first three full-length projects, all of which topped the Gaon Albums Chart. Parallel acting assignments brought him lead parts in Gangnam Beauty in 2017, Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung in 2019, and A Good Day to Be a Dog in 2023, plus numerous web dramas and hosting duties at the Dream Concert, the KBS Song Festival, and the Golden Disc Awards. Accolades followed, among them the Rising Star Award at the 2018 Asia Artist Awards, the Rookie Award at the 2020 SBS Entertainment Awards, and the Popularity Star Award, while a Best New Actor nomination arrived at the 2023 Blue Dragon Series Awards.
Having amassed a vast following through Astro and his on-screen roles, Cha Eun-woo launched his solo career with the 2024 mini-album ENTITY. Fronted by the single “Stay,” the five-song collection blended buoyant pop with intimate ballads to highlight his vocal range.
