Montreal-born Québec resident Maxime Morin spent his early years handling guitar duties in metal and punk outfits, a phase that lasted until the middle of the 1990s. At that point his growing fascination with electronic sounds prompted him to begin crafting his own productions. Working under the aliases Le Max and Mad Max, he both performed and produced material while helping establish a facility dedicated to jingles and soundtracks; in 2003 he also supplied instrumental parts for the Academy Award-nominated film Les Triplettes de Belleville. Later adopting the moniker DJ Champion, he set out to merge rock energy with dance rhythms. The recordings that followed were 2005’s Chill’em All, which contained the Canadian Top 30 single “No Heaven,” 2006’s The Remix Album, 2007’s Live, and 2009’s Resistance.
