Biography
Chanelle Haynes-Schwartz, professionally known as Chanel, helped establish the New Orleans-based ensemble Trin-i-tee 5:7 as one of its founding members. Between 1998 and 2011 the group issued five studio albums, each of which reached either the top or second slot on Billboard’s Gospel Albums chart and thereby ranked Trin-i-Tee among the era’s leading contemporary gospel acts. Chanel issued her debut solo project, the Obsidian-label release Trin-i-tee 5:7: According to Chanel, in 2014. Compared with the group’s earlier work, the album embraced a wider stylistic range that blended contemporary R&B with pop and club textures. One week after street date the set entered the Gospel Albums chart at number 25.
