Biography
Charlie Ross, who has also appeared under the name Charles Ross III, gained his greatest prominence during the late 1960s as lead vocalist and bassist for the Mississippi-based pop vocal ensemble Eternity's Children. His earliest musical role came as frontman for the Phantoms, later known as Nolan Branton & the Phantoms, a leading regional act from the Mississippi Delta. That outfit later transformed into Eternity's Children, which achieved local and regional notice through its sunshine-pop style, driven especially by the vocal contributions of Ross and Linda Lawley. While still performing with Eternity's Children, Ross issued his debut solo single, “Laughing Girl,” credited to Charles Ross III. Once the original lineup disbanded in 1970, he launched a solo trajectory that produced multiple singles, primarily in a country style. He also completed the solo album The High Cost of Loving at Muscle Shoals Studio and placed several country singles on the charts, the most prominent being “Without Your Love (Mister Jordan).” In subsequent years he has worked as a radio host, digital communications entrepreneur, and operator of his own production company.
