Biography
Originating in Glasgow, the duo Chaser formed out of a shared regard for Britain’s club environment and the acid house wave that surged through the final years of the 1980s into the early 1990s. Lars Sandberg and Nigel Hayes had already earned authority within specialized dance circles, maintaining regular engagements across Europe, yet it was under the Chaser name that they projected a commanding force through the jazz-inflected singles “Side of Iron” and “Life in Loisaida.” While continuing to juggle separate ventures and production assignments, the pair delivered their first album, Game On, at the start of 1999. The record attracted widespread notice, earning particular admiration from Gilles Peterson and Laurent Garnier. Hayes issued his solo album But Is Art midway through 2000, after which Sandberg followed a year later with Dos.
