Che Arthur

Che Arthur, originally from Mobile, took up residence in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, during the opening years of the 1990s and performed with assorted regional ensembles before assembling the durable noisy indie unit Universal Life and Accident. The group shifted to Chicago in 1995, where it maintained an active touring schedule and issued multiple singles plus EPs without achieving significant visibility. Once that project ended, Arthur entered Chicago’s Atombombpocketknife in 2001 as its non-vocal lead guitarist, functioning as a contrast to vocalist and main songwriter Justin Sinkovich. The two albums they completed together, God Save the ABPK and Lack and Pattern, preceded Sinkovich’s decision to place Atombombpocketknife on indefinite hold, after which Arthur launched a solo path. His initial solo album, 2004’s All of Your Tomorrows Were Decided Today, emerged as a markedly direct and melodic effort compared with the post-rock inclinations of his prior groups. February 2007 brought the release of his second solo album, Iron.
