Nasty Suicide, born Jan Stenfors and once Hanoi Rocks’ guitarist, assembled this melodic UK rock ‘n’ roll quartet in 1990. He brought in Alvin Gibbs on bass (ex-UK Subs), Timo Caltio on guitar and Les Riggs on drums, after which the band secured a contract with China Records in 1991. Their debut album Beautiful Disaster exposed a unit short on visual identity and artistic focus, while Suicide appeared uneasy juggling guitar and vocal duties at once. The music centered on mid-paced rockers whose vocal harmonies supplied the main melodic thrust, leaving the title track as the record’s clearest standout. Suicide later revisited a neo-Hanoi Rocks sound by joining Demolition 23, the band he formed with Sam Yaffa and Michael Monroe.
