Chelo

Growing up in Puerto Rico, José Oscar Mejías Hernandez displayed a strong artistic flair from an early age. While still a junior in high school, he received a request from the future reggaeton superstar Daddy Yankee to choreograph dances, an opportunity he accepted and one that prompted him to envision a career in professional dance routines. Joining the boy bands ATM and Jyve V under the stage name Chelo, however, revealed to him that vocal performance and stage presence held equal appeal. His first solo release, the 2006 album 360° issued by Sony, blended Latin pop with urban elements and featured vocals in both Spanish and English.
