Biography
Cheneta Jones, a vocalist and composer working in contemporary gospel, seeks to connect with listeners by crafting songs that address both spiritual conviction and the routines of daily existence. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she participated in an R&B group—following earlier ensembles—in 2008 before electing to dedicate herself entirely to church music. Ensembles that merged R&B textures with gospel themes, among them Trin-i-Tee 5:7 and Mary Mary, appear to have shaped her direction when she issued her first album, Transformed, in 2012; the project rose to number 14 on Billboard’s gospel chart. She later received a Stellar Award nomination for Best New Artist. The 2015 single “It’s You (A Love Song)” paired her with Zacardi Cortez.
