Biography
A country vocalist from New Mexico, Chevel Shepherd first entered the spotlight by claiming victory on season 15 of The Voice in 2018. Immediately after the finale she issued her debut single, “Broken Hearts.”
She entered the world in 2002 in La Plata, New Mexico, where country music filled her childhood and her mother first placed a microphone in her hands at age two. By ten she had already spent several years singing in local venues and had cut a self-produced album of covers. Her 2018 audition for the program featured a performance of The Band Perry’s “If I Die Young.” Aligning herself with coach Kelly Clarkson, Shepherd quickly became a viewer favorite and was named champion on December 18, 2018. In the wake of that triumph she unveiled the coronation single “Broken Hearts.” Later the same year she documented her run on the show with The Season 15 Collection, which showcased her interpretations of material originally recorded by Kacey Musgraves, Little Big Town, Tanya Tucker, and others.
