In 1966 the Chicago Loop took shape when two former folk performers, Judy Navy (born 18 January 1946 in Chicago, Illinois) and Bob Slawson (born 14 November 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio), decided to work together. Bassist Carmen Riole (born 22 July 1945 in Greenwich, Connecticut), drummer Jack Siomoms (born 30 July 1947), and pianist Barry Goldberg (born 1941 in Chicago, Illinois)—who had just disbanded his Blues Band—rounded out the lineup. Bob Crewe handled production for the band’s recordings, which opened with an energetic version of “(When She Needs Good Lovin’) She Comes To Me,” a song the Coasters had previously cut. Mike Bloomfield contributed the single’s distinctive guitar lines until John Savanna (born 6 June 1945 in the Bronx, New York) joined as the group’s regular guitarist. Later releases never recaptured the focus of that first effort. Goldberg exited in 1967 to link up with Bloomfield in the newly forming Electric Flag, after which the Chicago Loop disbanded.
