Chicklet

Toronto-based indie-pop duo Chicklet brought together vocalists and multi-instrumentalists Julie Park and Daniel Barida. The pair came together in mid-1995, releasing their first cassette EP, Daisy Smile and Kitty, in early 1996; after issuing another self-released cassette titled 3, they joined the Pasadena, CA roster of Satellite, which resulted in the single "Premiere." Bassist Sean Bettam spent six months in the group during which time they cut "Shellac" alongside producer Warren Defever, a track that later appeared on the Splashed with Many a Speck compilation; bassist Chris Sytnyk came aboard for the 1998 EP Lemon Chandeliers, and in the year after that Chicklet delivered their debut full-length album, Wanderlust.
