Biography
Hailing from Los Angeles, California, the band Chingalera consists of Dave Gibney on guitar and vocals, Ben Shirley on bass, and Tommy Holt on drums. Their first album, In the Shadow of the Black Palm Tree, arrived in 2007 and fuses contrasting influences from the Melvins, Helmet, Tool, and Black Sabbath. The outcome is a drawn-out, deliberately paced strain of progressive stoner metal whose resolutions arrive at an even more unhurried tempo.
