American singer, songwriter, and author Chiquis Rivera entered the world in Los Angeles during 1982 as the eldest daughter of the late banda legend Jenni Rivera. Her sound blends regional Mexican styles with contemporary pop elements.

Exposure came early through her mother’s spotlight: as a teenager she appeared on the reality series Jenni Rivera Presents: Chiquis & Raq-C and its companion program I Love Jenni. Following Jenni Rivera’s fatal plane crash in late 2012, Chiquis launched her own recording career in her late twenties, performing “Esa No Soy Yo” for Univision’s 2014 televised memorial. She soon secured a contract with Sony Music Latin, having already composed her debut single “Paloma Blanca” at age twenty-nine as a tribute to her mother. That same year brought a Lo Nuestro Award nomination, an honor her mother had previously received. She also began private vocal lessons with singer and songwriter Julio Reyes while preparing her first full-length project.

Their strained relationship at the time of Jenni’s death received detailed attention in Chiquis’s 2015 memoir Forgiveness, issued in Spanish as Perdón.

Credited as executive producer on the June 2, 2015 release Ahora, she wrote or co-wrote ten of the album’s fourteen tracks in both English and Spanish. It debuted at number one on the charts, marking the first time a female Latin artist had achieved that position since her mother’s posthumous 2013 compilation 1 Vida, 3 Historias. The following eighteen months centered on touring and television work, interrupted only by the charting single “La Necia.” April 2017 brought the pre-release track and video “Horas Extras,” with the full album Entre Botellas arriving that November.
