Chocolate Starfish

Led by vocalist Adam Thompson, Chocolate Starfish formed in Melbourne, Australia, during the early 90s as a five-piece hard rock outfit. Their dynamic, theatrical live shows quickly built a strong domestic reputation while steadily expanding their profile overseas, drawing frequent comparisons to Queen. After reportedly performing more than 450 concerts across a single 18-month stretch, the band tracked their self-titled debut album for Virgin Records in 1994. The record proved a major commercial triumph, its energetic songwriting resonating with a wide segment of Australian listeners and securing platinum certification. Promotion for the follow-up album centered on the single “Accidentally Cool,” which emerged as a signature track by debuting at number 4 on the ARIA charts and generating solid support for Box. In 1997 the album reached Europe, coinciding with a six-month stay the group maintained in Paris.
