Biography
Jazz bassist Christian Fabian entered the world in Sweden before relocating to Germany upon turning six. His studies at the Maastricht Conservatory in the Netherlands led him to assemble the group Time Design, which issued three albums. Fabian later moved to the United States and enrolled at the Berklee College of Music, earning a B.A. in performance and film scoring Magna Cum Laude upon graduation. From 1997 onward he performed on bass alongside Lionel Hampton for several years and collaborated with numerous other jazz veterans, establishing his standing in New York. He created the Fabian Zone Trio as a piano/bass/drums ensemble, beginning with pianist Andy LaVerne and drummer Danny Gottlieb on the album Across the Tracks, issued by the CAP Records label on April 3, 2006. Curtain of Life, the trio’s second release, adopted a jazz fusion approach and included Fabian on electric bass together with keyboardist Steve Hunt and drummer Steve Michaud. The third album, The Masters Return!, returned to an acoustic setting and appeared on November 6, 2007, with Mike Longo on piano and Lewis Nash on drums interpreting a program of bebop standards and originals.
