Deriving their moniker from the Danish locale known alternatively as Freetown, the quartet Christiania performs Spanish pop and rock. Emerging during the initial years of the 1990s under the leadership of vocalist Fernando Díaz de la Guardia, the group initially performed English-language material and captured their efforts on the 1994 release Rick's Cafe. Subsequently shifting to Spanish lyrics, they immersed themselves within the rock en español movement by crafting the 1998 album En El Circo Del Aire under the production of Ricardo Texidó.
