Biography
Christine Albert, a singer and songwriter, wove together the European lineage of her family with the enduring musical traditions of Texas—her adopted home state—to shape a sound all her own. Raised in upstate New York after her birth there, she relocated at sixteen to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she first set out on a musical path. Her arrival in Austin in 1982 led to regular appearances throughout the local club circuit, yet her debut album, You Are Gold, did not surface until 1990. The bilingual Texafrance, issued in 1992, examined her French ancestry while uniting the styles of Patsy Cline and Edith Piaf. With the 1993 release of The High Road she returned to unembellished country, a direction she extended two years later on Underneath the Lone Star Sky.
