Biography
Tobin first saw the light of day in Dublin, Eire. Following initial performances in her hometown, she relocated to London to enroll in the jazz program at the Guildhall School of Music. Currently a fixture on the British jazz circuit, she collaborates with artists including Jean Toussaint, Billy Childs, Kenny Wheeler, and Django Bates while maintaining ongoing engagements at Ronnie Scott’s and the Purcell Room on the South Bank. Regular European tours take her to festivals across Austria, Germany, Bulgaria, Spain, and Hungary. Her broad selection of material stems from jazz foundations yet incorporates elements of Irish folk, global traditions, and Latin rhythms. Although her releases on the Babel imprint emphasize her intricate original works, her sultry, breathy singing stands out as the primary attraction. Deep Song, however, centered on renditions of jazz classics like ‘Little Girl Blue’, ‘I Can’t Get Started’, and ‘How Deep Is The Ocean’.
