Christopher Port first earned notice as a drummer and supporting player for bands such as Airling and I'lls, yet by 2016 he had begun issuing his own experimental electronic work. Rooted in the traditions of 2-step and British garage, his tracks rely on uneven beats and altered samples to create an unpredictable atmosphere. His debut EP, Vetement, appeared on Pieater in the middle of that year.

Based in Melbourne, Australia, Port spent several seasons as a sideman, contributing drums to Airling, #1 Dads, and I'lls while handling live sampling duties for Big Scary even as he developed material of his own. After joining the Pieater roster, he maintained a consistent release schedule that opened with the Vetement EP. Shortly afterward he supplied a remix of ALTA’s “Unbelievable,” then in November unveiled the single “My Love” backed by “Sum 1 [His Eye Is on the Sparrow Edit].” Early in 2017 he reworked a track by the Australian duo Fishing, and later that year he issued the Everything in Quotes “Dark” EP. Conceived as fleeting mood pieces, its counterpart Everything in Quotes “Light” followed in 2018. Also that year he collaborated with Annie Bass on the two-track release “Thrown Away/Counting All.”
