Biography
Chuck Roberson, the soul singer born in Augusta, Georgia, moved with his family to Madison, Florida, and there first developed his passion for music. Drawing from the styles of Bobby Bland, Little Milton, Tyrone Davis, and O.V. Wright, among others, he launched his recording efforts during the mid-'70s. Several singles appeared on the small Albradella label, among them "Love Affair," "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone," and "I Feel It Coming," each achieving regional airplay yet never crossing over to national audiences. During the late '70s he shifted to Philadelphia with the aim of pursuing disco, only to return home by 1983. Additional singles paved the way for a contract with the Ecko imprint in the '90s, which yielded a consistent sequence of albums: Something Good for You in 1996, Meet Me Tonight in 1997, Love Power in 1999, Love Freak in 2000, and I'm Your Candy Man in 2001. His recordings, marked by sexually charged themes, echo the approach of soul and R&B figure Barry White.
