Biography
Emerging from Dublin, Ireland, Cian Nugent handles guitar with an instinctive, fluid range that recalls uncompromising six-string players such as John Fahey, Jack Rose, and Jim O'Rourke. He shifts without strain between unaccompanied steel-string passages and richer settings that add strings, drums, horns, and keys. His first EP appeared on his own imprint in 2007; the live recording Childhood, Christian Lies & Slaughter followed in 2008. VHF issued his initial full-length studio effort, Doubles, in 2011, presenting two tracks each longer than twenty minutes. In 2013 No Quarter brought out the stylistically related yet more expansive Born with the Caul, Nugent’s first project with a full band, credited to Cian Nugent & the Cosmos.
