Biography
Edgardo Cintron, an accomplished Latin-jazz percussionist, assembled the fourteen-piece outfit that bears his name. Its first recording, Absolutely, appeared on March 20th, 2001 and spotlighted Latin standards including "Oye Como Va" and "Suavecito." Under the direction of lead singer and executive producer Rocco de Persia together with keyboardist Jimmy López, the ensemble fuses big-band jazz textures, classic Latin rhythms, and present-day pop-rock sensibilities. Cintron delivered a live performance at the New Millennium Diversity Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C., on January 20th, 2001, as part of the celebration honoring President George W. Bush. Hit Men arrived in 2003 and revisited many of the same selections first heard on Absolutely. Back in the Day followed in 2005, mixing several newly recorded tracks with material that had already been released.
