Biography
Emerging from Seattle’s thriving music environment, Citizens’ Utilities cultivated a roots-oriented style that stood apart from their grunge-era peers. The quartet—guitarists Joshua Medaris and Chad Shaver, bassist Bill Herzog, and drummer Eric Akre—shared vocal duties among all four members and made its recorded debut in 1996 with the Mute release Lost and Foundered. Steve Berlin produced the follow-up album, No More Medicine, which appeared the next year.
