Biography
CJ Flemings, a singer and rapper of considerable range, fuses rap with pop steeped in hip-hop to produce an animated sound that recalls Drake, Frank Ocean, and Kid Cudi. He first surfaced in the mid-2010s and delivered his breakthrough album, Forever Wanted More, in 2017.
Curan Javid Flemmings entered the world in Montreal; the West Island native took up rapping at age 13 and went on to cut several mixtapes across subsequent years, among them 2013’s Art of Living. The year after, he issued the Next One to Enjoy EP, which contained his viral rap hit “Status.” Alongside his smooth flow, Flemings also revealed his vocal range on cuts such as the SORENA-produced dancehall jam “Highlight” and the slinky R&B number “Pleasure.”
Flemings released his full-length project Forever Wanted More at the close of 2017, and the set contained the single “Drive Me Crazy.” Capitalizing on the momentum of that breakthrough effort, he reentered the studio to craft the follow-up Mascara Tears, which appeared in 2019.
