Clara Sandroni came to prominence after Milton Nascimento discovered her talent. Her résumé soon included recording sessions and live work with Al Di Meola, Paulo Moura, Nascimento, and numerous others, while she simultaneously built a solo catalog that reached six albums by 2001.

She first appeared publicly in 1981, forming a duo with her brother Carlos Sandroni. At the same moment she joined the Terças e Quintas ensemble and sang with the Olhos nos Olhos choir. In 1982 she took part in the stage production of Godspell.

Her own debut presentation, the show Bem Baixinho, opened in Rio de Janeiro the following year and later traveled to São Paulo. The self-titled album Clara Sandroni arrived in 1984.

During the mid-eighties she maintained a steady schedule of theater engagements, the most notable being her appearances at Circo Voador in 1985. Together with Joyce and Carlos Sandroni she visited Cuba for a series of concerts. She also contributed the track “A Primeira Estrela” to Milton Nascimento’s album Encontros e Despedidas. In 1986 she performed in Projeto Pixinguinha with Joyce.

Alongside Olívia Byington and Cida Moreira she starred in the musical Três Garotas no Ipanema at Rio’s Teatro Ipanema and served as opening act for Cazuza in the Coluna Voadora presentation in Vitória, Espírito Santo.

The year 1987 found her recording in New York with Al Di Meola, appearing in the Elas no Jazzmania project, and adding vocals to the soundtrack of the film Sonho de Valsa, which starred Ana Carolina. That year the APCA named her Best Singer of 1987.

In 1988 Sandroni performed at the Terceiro Taller de Música Popular Latino-Americana in Bogotá, Colombia, and produced and took part in the project Encontros com a Nova Música dos Anos 80 at Parque da Catacumba.

The next year she toured Brazil with Milton Nascimento and Paulo Moura under the Basf Chrome Music series and appeared in the BBC video One World, One Voice. In 1991 she opened for Milton Nascimento in Friburgo, Rio, and gave additional concerts in Rio and Curitiba, Paraná.

During 1992 she joined Milton Nascimento’s concert at Curitiba’s Pedreira Paulo Leminski, an event marking the thirtieth anniversary of Amnesty International. Later that year she performed at the New Morning jazz club in Paris and at further venues across France. Three years afterward she appeared at Café Concerto La Mainate in Le Corbusier Maison de Suisse, France, and at Piano Bar Fiap Jean Monet in Paris.

In Brazil she has continued to pursue an active solo career while also participating in recording projects with Keiko Takeda in Japan and Daniel Tochtermann in Germany.
