Biography
While growing up in Santiago de Chile, Claudio Narea cultivated his passion for rock by listening to the genre and performing in a high school band. Joining forces with singer and bassist Jorge González and drummer Miguel Tapia, he co-founded los Prisioneros, which became one of the most celebrated rock acts in Chilean history. After the band disbanded in the early '90s, Narea assembled Profetas y Frenéticos, secured a contract with local label Alerce, and put out both a self-titled album and Nuevo Orden in 1992. Insufficient sales of the second release prompted the group’s dissolution. In the ensuing period he joined the Escuelas de Rock initiative, where he taught guitar to emerging players, and hosted the radio program Se Remata El Siglo. In 2000 he issued his first solo album, a collection of songs written between 1993 and 1997, whose track “Amar Es Complicado” rose on local charts.
