Biography
Clinic Stars, a Detroit-based duo, fuse dream pop, shoegaze, and slowcore into a hazy, lightly psychedelic texture. After first appearing through a pair of self-released EPs in the early 2020s, they joined the respected Chicago imprint Kranky and delivered their initial full-length, Only Hinting, in 2024.
Giovanna Lenski and Christian Molik connected virtually in 2019 via a mutual acquaintance. Molik lived in Detroit while Lenski resided in the Chicago area, prompting the pair to begin their musical work remotely. In-person sessions started the next year, resulting in the independent release of their first EP, 10,000 Dreams, early in 2021. Their sound grew richer on the 2022 EP April's Past. After establishing a home studio in Detroit, they tracked the warm, ethereal, and densely layered debut album. Kranky issued Only Hinting in 2024, around the same time the group began playing live as a five-piece.
