Biography
Born on August 24, 1974, in Panama City, Florida, Clint Daniels spent his formative years in the adjacent suburb of Lynn Haven, where horseback riding became part of his daily routine. His father balanced work as a painter with guitar playing, while his mother managed the household; Daniels later recalled harmonizing with his sister and performing in church, alongside an early immersion in bluegrass sounds. By age twelve he had started teaching himself guitar, shutting himself away with recordings by Haggard and Jones to decode the chords and melodies of the material he admired most.
After high school he repeatedly made the journey to Nashville, playing in assorted bands and frequenting dives even while underage, until the Music City infrastructure finally opened to him. An Arista A&R representative discovered him during a studio rehearsal of one of his own compositions, leading promptly to a recording contract. His self-titled debut album appeared on September 15, 1998, arriving amid a broader resurgence of traditional country styles. Equipped with a robust baritone and a knack for hearty honky-tonk songwriting, Daniels seemed perfectly positioned for the moment.
