Biography
Clockcleaner, the Philadelphia natives, encountered bans from countless performance spaces early in their run owing to wildly unhinged shows, yet they wore the notoriety with satisfaction while storming the underground, intent on restoring punk rock’s raw, unruly sense of reckless exploration. Their sound aligned more closely with noise rock and goth, flecked here and there with psychobilly accents, as vocalist/guitarist John Sharkey, bassist R. Slegel, and drummer Richard Charles immersed themselves in composition to produce the 2004 debut EP The Hassler on Manic Ride Records. Shortly afterward Karen Horner assumed bass duties in place of Slegel, prompting Load Records to commission the band’s very creepy full-length Babylon Rules, which appeared in September 2007.
