Clockwise

In the closing years of the 1990s, a modest metal outfit from Las Vegas began receiving favorable notices for its vigorous stage performances and mesmerizing frontman. Clockwise, a ferocious hardcore-steeped ensemble featuring bassist Alfonso Bernal, drummer Dave McMahan, vocalist Austin Leduc, and guitarists Justin Pasquale and Scott Bears, formed the group in question. Leduc, previously recognized throughout the city more for acts of vandalism than for any musical talent, moved to the forefront once the band’s high-octane style started resonating with hard-rock listeners. With its emphasis on expansive choruses, firm hooks, and a flair for theatrical stage antics, Clockwise drew the interest of RCA Records, which inked the act and teamed it with producer Dan Brodbeck. Their partnership yielded Healthy Manipulation, issued during the summer of 2002 once legendary Nirvana/Slayer mixer Andy Wallace applied the finishing touches.
