Biography
Closer Musik formed as a tech-house duo pairing Chile native Matias Aguayo with the suave Dirk Leyers. Aguayo had already surfaced as a producer through his earlier partnership with M. Mayer under the name Zimt on the Ladomat 2000 imprint. The pair issued their first recording in May 2000, the somber vocal tech-house 12" One, Two, Three (No Gravity), which came out on Cologne, Germany’s Kompakt label. In 2001 they joined Dettinger, Jonas Bering, and Tobias Thomas on the Kompakt showcase at Montreal, Quebec’s Mutek festival, and their track “Piraten” was included on the Mutek 2001 compilation CD. The duo’s debut album, After Love, followed on Kompakt in April 2002.
