Biography
Horror punk ghouls Coffin Carousel brought chunky riffs, pounding drums, and a theatrical spook-show aesthetic drawn from the Misfits, Rob Zombie, and Rammstein into Melbourne’s local circuit. Frontman Howard Von Noise first conceived the project in 2012, yet the band remained inactive until Diamond Noir, his previous outfit, entered hiatus in 2014. That same year the lineup—completed by guitarist Alex Stitcher, drummer Tim Le Spooks, and bassist Sunny Horrors—unveiled its debut single, “Sinister.” The follow-up “Doom Pop” single surfaced in 2015 and quickly led to the four-track Predators EP and the six-track Fiend EP. Three additional songs appeared in 2016 as the release pairing “The Strange” and “Bat Shit Crazy” with “Toxic Candy” on the flip side. Early the following year Von Noise and his bandmates issued the live album Live in Fiend City, documenting eight previously recorded tracks. Later that summer the group inked a deal with the American imprint Eclipse Records and began work on the full-length Between Death & Dead. Neil Kernon handled mixing, bringing his experience with Queensrÿche and Cannibal Corpse, while Alan Douches mastered the recordings after prior collaborations with the Misfits and Motörhead; the finished album reached listeners in time for Halloween 2017.
