Biography
In the mid-'90s, Washington, D.C. became the birthplace of indie rock supergroup Cold Cold Hearts, assembled when Bratmobile's Allison Wolfe and Erin Smith linked up with Katherine Brown alongside Nattles from the Cutthroats. The musicians, after enduring the intense spotlight cast by the mid-'90s riot grrrl wave, reconvened to launch Cold Cold Hearts as their new vehicle. Its blunt punk rock approach delivered a decisive jolt to the city's indie landscape. Once the "Yer So Sweet" single appeared on Baby Donut Records, Nattles enlisted Mark Robinson—his Flin Flon colleague—to contribute to Cold Cold Hearts' self-titled debut album, which Kill Rock Stars Records issued in 1997. The partnership dissolved soon afterward, standing as a brief but memorable chapter for several of indie rock's most pivotal women.
