Biography
A native of San Francisco, Chin launched his career through close association with the musicians of Group 87, ultimately joining them on tour; the late-’70s instrumental outfit counted Mark Isham and Patrick O’Hearn among its members. Alongside Isham he took part in a Brian Eno seminar devoted to the creative use of advanced technology in music-making. That encounter proved decisive for the young guitarist, prompting him to pursue electronic music in earnest.
