Biography
Conchita Campos, the Filipino-American vocalist, spent her earliest years in Pasadena, California, before her family shifted to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during childhood once her father took a teaching post at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. After her parents separated, her mother returned with her to the Philippines. Upon finishing secondary school, Campos came back to the United States and settled in San Francisco, California, enrolling at San Francisco State University. She concentrated on music studies and, following graduation, took a position in radio. Her later relocation to Brooklyn, a borough of New York City, eventually prompted her to begin appearing as a singer-songwriter. With the support of her ensemble Conchita's Collective, performances at New York clubs such as the Bitter End, Crash Mansion, and the Knitting Factory drew notice that resulted in the issue of her debut EP, So It Goes …, released under the band name Conchita's Collective.
