Cone emerged in 1996 from the hidden Wakefield, England, drawing motivation from Snuff, Leatherface, Descendants, and fellow residential troublemakers Chopper to forge their own strain of fast, humored, four-chord pop-punk. After multiple recording attempts and repeated lineup changes, the group issued its debut EP Smile for Me in 1998 on Crackle Records.
