Biography
San Diego native Stimy wrapped up his tenure as lead vocalist for Inch, an act signed to Atlantic Records, when the group dissolved toward the close of the 1990s. Seeking a fresh path, he set out to humanize the typically austere and geometric landscape of indie rock. He enlisted drummer Francis Winfield, bassist Ray Argyle, and guitarist Jon Cota, forming Congress of the Cow and launching local performances across the region. Exposure from prominent bills alongside Frank Black and Imperial Teen drew the attention of M-Theory Records. By December 2001 the quartet had completed its self-titled debut album and prepared to tour in its support.
