Emerging from a turbulent blend of garage sounds and rock and roll energy, the Cool Jerks inject fresh intensity into the heated world of indie and punk rock. The band came together in 2001, featuring Scott Rogers on bass, guitarists Dave Boyer and Forrest Hewes—who had both previously performed with the Neckbones—and drummer Jack Yarber, who also belongs to the Oblivians and the Compulsive Gamblers. Once the Neckbones broke up, Rogers and Boyer spent time playing together before reaching out to the remaining members to begin work on a first record. Issued in July 2002 by the Sympathy For the Record Industry label, that debut effort bears the title Cleaned Up a Lot of Plates In Memphis.
