Born in Wells, MN, country musician Cooper Boone spent his childhood in St. Joe, raised by parents who both worked as teachers. Although he picked up piano and trumpet early on, he directed his energies toward clinical psychology, completing a doctorate before opening a practice in New York City. He also shares ownership of a country store in upstate New York, runs a chicken farm in Pennsylvania, and hosts the online cooking series Cowboy Kitchen. That longstanding ambition to establish himself as a country singer-songwriter never faded, and he eventually developed contacts that opened doors for co-writing sessions in Nashville, TN. Before signing with Green Rooster Records, Boone independently issued the albums Dance in the Wind in 2006 and Made in America in 2008; the label then released his official debut, Cooper Boone, on August 4, 2009.
