Biography
During rockabilly's peak commercial period in the mid-'50s, Buck Owens briefly explored the style, following a path taken by numerous other performers best known for country work. He released those sides under an assumed name, as George Jones had done, to shield himself from disapproval by the country music establishment. His only rockabilly single, "Hot Dog"/"Rhythm and Booze," came out on the Pep label and stood as a capable mid-tempo example of the form. Both tracks appear on Young Buck: The Complete Pre-Capitol Recordings of Buck Owens.
