Biography
The Portland, Oregon indie rock outfit Corvair formed as a creative partnership between spouses Heather Larimer and Brian Naubert, who drew from their shared affinity for offbeat pop when shaping the band’s bright, hook-driven material. Although the project officially launched in 2019, the bulk of the self-titled debut album was tracked in seclusion during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The follow-up LP, Bound to Be, surfaced in June 2023 and ventured into a broader, sometimes murkier emotional palette.
Both musicians had long been embedded in the Pacific Northwest indie community: Larimer previously performed with the acclaimed group Eux Autres, while Naubert had played in Tube Top, the Service Providers, and Ruston Mire. The couple conceived Corvair in 2019 specifically as a vehicle for harmony-rich, pop-oriented songwriting. During 2020 lockdown they finished tracking their debut with assistance from drummer Eric Eagle and engineer Martin Feveyear; the album appeared in February 2021. Building on that foundation, Corvair expanded their sonic range on the next record. Bound to Be, issued in June 2023 and produced by Naubert, incorporated darker, more abstract textures without sacrificing the group’s luminous vocal blend or taut indie-pop drive, and it featured drumming from Posies and Fastbacks veteran Mike Musberger.
