Cosines

An indie pop outfit with electronic leanings, Cosines hail from North London. Simon Nelson and Alice Hubley, the group's chief songwriters and vocalists, first crossed paths on the London Underground in 2009 after attending a Stereo Total concert. Their overlapping enthusiasms for new wave, avant-garde '60s pop, German art pop, and Stereolab's mathematical style led them to launch the project together. Daniel Chapman and the Late Jonny Drums, both formerly of the Loves with Alice, joined alongside Kajsa Tretow from a Smile and a Ribbon. The expanded lineup began gigging, issuing the debut single "Hey Sailor Boy!" in early 2013 and the follow-up "Commuter Love" twelve months later. Fika Recordings, the Swedish imprint, released their first full-length effort, Oscillations, in June 2014. Self-produced at Simon's Klank Studio, the album included contributions from Gabe Saucedo of Still Flyin' and Red Pony Clock plus Gary Olson of the Ladybug Transistor.
