Biography
The three brothers’ shared surname supplied the name for Couchois, the American rock band that assembled toward the close of the 1970s. Its lineup featured Chris Couchois on vocals, Pat Couchois on guitar, Mike Couchois on drums, Chas Carlson on keyboards and Howard Messer on bass, and the ensemble pursued the polished, melody-driven soft-rock favored by AOR programmers. Though widely dismissed at the time, the style was handled with notable skill by Couchois, above all on their second album, 1980’s Nasty Hardware. That record contained the band’s signature track, ‘Roll The Dice’, which subsequently enjoyed successful versions by Rage and several other pomp-rock acts.
