Rapper Crix Green, who entered the world in the Virgin Islands and spent his formative years in New Orleans, surfaced in 2013 with an approach that steered clear of both emo and gangsta conventions, landing squarely in the center as a nod to the classic era defined by Ludacris and 50 Cent. A longtime admirer of 2Pac, he respected the way his hero could recount authentic street experiences while ascending to superstardom and moving millions of records without compromising his core. Crix applied that same model when he debuted in 2013 via the mixtape Keepin' It Franklin, which DJ Scream hosted. He followed it later that year with the "Feel Good" single that included Juvenile, then issued the EP So Cool in 2014.
