Biography
Crowcuss came together in 1976 when several musicians who had already contributed to rock’s past through bands such as the Guess Who decided to form a new project. The lineup featured Bill Wallace handling lead vocals and bass, Greg Leskiw on guitar, Marc LaFrance supplying vocals and drums, and keyboardists Larry Pink alongside Hermann Fruhm. Not long afterward Leskiw departed, and Bob Deutscher stepped in on guitar.
The band issued its self-titled debut on Stony Plain Records in 1977. Two years later they followed with Starting to Show, an album that earned favorable notices yet failed to achieve strong sales or significant radio exposure. Disagreements with management prompted Wallace to exit, after which a brief effort to sustain the group collapsed and the remaining members soon scattered as well. Each continued working separately, appearing in outfits including CheckOne2, Mood Jga Jga, and One Horse Blue, while LaFrance also pursued a solo path.
