Born in Duncan, Oklahoma, Ryle grew up in Broken Bow before relocating to Nashville in 1985 with the goal of entering the country music industry. A singer-songwriter skilled on electric guitar, steel guitar and dobro, he achieved his greatest recognition through material written for other performers. Tracks he placed include ‘Storm In The Heartland’ for Billy Ray Cyrus, ‘The Real McCoy’ for George Jones, ‘Mirrors Don’t Lie’ for Gene Watson and multiple songs for Clinton Gregory (‘Master Of Illusion’, ‘Dying One Shot At A Time’, ‘Sad Out Of Saturday Night’). He also contributed guitar to recordings by George Jones and Pam Tillis and produced the latter’s father, Mel Tillis. Ryle’s debut album, Life Time Guarantee, arrived in 1999 and followed the approach long associated with George Jones.
