Biography
The rock quintet Curtains for You, based in Seattle, draws heavily on vintage sounds, most clearly in melodies styled after the Beach Boys, though this influence does not immediately surface in the band’s broodingly indie lyrics. The lineup features Matthew Gervais on guitar and lead vocals, Mikey Gervais on guitar, sax, and vocals, Nick Holman on bass, euphonium, and vocals, Peter Fedofsky on piano and vocals, and Dave Lawrence on drums, with Matthew Gervais and Fedofsky dividing songwriting duties equally. Among the group’s cited touchstones are Harry Nilsson, Rufus Wainwright, and the ever-present Beach Boys. Their buoyant debut album, Heaven’s Waiting, appeared in spring 2007, earned extensive local radio play, and secured a contract with Spark and Shine Records. The ensemble then recorded at London Bridge Studio, issuing its second album, What a Lovely Surprise to Wake Up Here, in October 2009.
