Victor Lenis operates primarily under the Cute Heels name as a Bogotá-based DJ, producer, and label owner from Columbia. His work draws deep inspiration from '80s industrial and EBM, covering territory that stretches from uptempo minimal wave to dark electro-techno. In 2007 he launched his own Black Leather Records imprint in Colombia and began issuing tracks digitally on it, an outlet that soon built up dozens of releases from Lenis himself alongside other artists and led him to place material on outside labels as well. Black Montanas, an American imprint, released his first full-length, Love and Hate, in 2009. The 2011 single "Silence Complot" generated numerous remixes and broadened Cute Heels' reach internationally after electro-techno legends Dave Clarke and Juan Atkins offered their praise. Following a move to Brussels, Lenis founded Romance Moderne as both a label and an event organization dedicated to darkwave and minimal synth. He also recorded as Modernista, and Fabrika Records issued the 2012 album Download Selbstmord, a collaboration with Petra Flurr. Dark Entries, another American label, released Cute Heels' Spiritual LP in 2014, after which EPs appeared on Schrödinger's Box (Nepotism) and Kess Kill (KESS01) along with two additional Dark Entries titles, Third Skin and State of Mind.
